The Reading Month of May!

In an effort to encourage literacy at our school, we have decided to make May a reading month! We are beginning a reading program, and the whole school is getting involved! The teachers constructed a giant paper castle that we posted up in the lobby of our school, and each class will aid in building it-brick by brick. Each brick represents 1 book, or 50 pages. The bricks are different colors for each grade level, and the teachers have a color too! On Fridays, we have fun activities planned, because of course, reading is fun! This Friday we will dress up like our favorite book characters, so stay tuned! :)

Our castle is ready to be constructed! Note the cute tower tops on the bathroom doors. ;)
The kids like to "go into" the castle!

I'm happy to report that my students and I placed the first bricks on the castle!
